does Riley seriously believe he can make Curry a defender

He's the antithesis of Charles Barkley, a power-forward trapped in a shooting guard's body Versace Sunglasses. No effort or power on the glass.
And, it's a shame. He's still 28 and he's physically gifted Bvlgari Sunglasses. Instead of working on developing his gift, training and improving himself, he's played ten games in the last three years and weighs over 350 lbs.
Pat Riley made a wise choice by rejecting Eddy Curry this late in the season. I'm sure he told Curry to workout shape and try again in the summer Gucci Sunglasses. But even if he does get in shape, does Riley seriously believe he can make Curry a defender?

It disappeared

Do you remember Eddy Curry? He's the only 7 foot, 300 pounder with a decent offensive game that I would consider a net negative for his teams in the history of basketball Coach Sunglasses. Why? His defense and rebounding ability were that atrocious.
How can a man that strong and huge average five rebounds and half a block while playing starters' minutes Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses? How does he allow more points than he scores? I'll tell you.
Apathy. Sluggishness. Indolence.
If you don't remember his defense, look him up on YouTube. Where is all of that power he uses to post-up undersized opponents (which was everyone in the league save for Shaq and Yao) when boxing out for defensive and offensive boards Armani Sunglasses? How about protecting the paint? It disappeared.

Some type of proof that things are different now

You can tell who's only been a fan of the NBA since the Heat signed LeBron James(notes) or who only watches the last five minutes of basketball games when you hear them excited about the possibility of signing Eddy Curry Christian Dior Sunglasses. The man personifies the word bust.
Eddy Curry plays like a hippopotamus in a tank top and long shorts Oakley Sunglasses Cheap.
And, I'm not even talking about the 800 pound version of Eddy Curry. I mean Curry in his prime. You don't even work him out until you have assurances Arnette Sunglasses. Some type of proof that things are different now.

to be desired is a gross understatement

So this year, first-round-bubble guys, according to pure lists of who the best draft-eligible players are Prada Sunglasses, stand to move up a great deal, thanks to those top players not entering the draft Louis Vuitton Sunglasses. That helps their draft status, but does it mean they'll end up being long-tenured NBA players? Let's look at two cases -- one freshman and one junior -- and analyze what they have to do to reach and stay in the NBA.
What was Pat Riley thinking? I know that the Miami Heat are weak inside. In fact, saying that Zydrunas Ilgauskas(notes), Eric Dampier Replica Oakley Sunglasses, Joel Anthony(notes) and Jamal Magloire leave a lot to be desired is a gross understatement.
But, Eddy Curry(notes)??

on draft night but never amount to much in the NBA

Knicks fans, let me hear it: Does this get you amped up for Game 2 against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night? Or, like me, does it leave you wanting ... well, anything else Fendi Sunglasses?
As some of the better draft-eligible players are deciding whether to enter the draft, more than just the lottery teams are watching and waiting anxiously for them to make a final decision. NBA teams have to draft somebody when their picks come up Roberto Cavalli Sunglasses, of course, so as the draft pool shrinks when top players don't enter lower-ranked players move up the draft boards.
That is why we can't ever suggest that a certain player is not worthy of a No. 20 pick, for example, because that pick can provide varied degrees of talent from year to year. In 2004, the 20th pick was Jameer Nelson, and Tony Allen was 25th in a very deep and talented draft (only four of the top-20 picks didn't stick). In other years, such as 2006, a smaller pool of talent at the top allowed players such as Cedric Simmons Ferragamo Sunglasses, Patrick O'Bryant and seven other top-20 picks to hear their names called on draft night but never amount to much in the NBA.

Herb Gould of the Chicago Sun-Times

Herb Gould of the Chicago Sun-Times: "Derrick Rose’s whirling-dervish moves to the basket are the talk of the town as well as the NBA Carrera Sunglasses. But the MVP front-runner points to something else when asked about the Bulls’ hopes of making good on their NBA championship promise. Tough defense. 'If you want to win, to separate yourself from all other teams in the NBA, you’ll do it,’ Rose said. 'We have good guys on this team. They’re winners. They do extra stuff. You don’t want to be the one who messes up a practice because other teams are having great practices. That could put you back a little bit. We just try to come in and work hard every day, especially on the defensive side Oakley Sunglasses.’ That has added up to a defense that -- before Monday’s games -- ranked first in opponents’ field-goal shooting (42.8 percent), opponents’ three-point shooting (32.7 percent) and second in points allowed (91.1 a game) and rebounds per game (44.4) and fifth in blocks per game (5.72)." Tom Enlund of the Journal Sentinel: "Bucks guard Michael Redd, coming back from a major knee injury, played in his first game since Jan. 10, 2010, and went scoreless with four assists in 15 minutes. He missed all three of his shots. Forward Drew Gooden, coming back from a foot injury that had sidelined him since late January, returned and had two points, eight rebounds and four fouls in 16 minutes. Redd had looked forward to playing in a game again for a long, long time Chanel Sunglasses. 'One of my greatest games ever,' said Redd.

We'll see if the change helps us

'It's a wake-up call. We don't have anything figured out. People are telling us, 'Oh, you're going to win this game. It's easy cheap designer sunglasses.' Nothing is easy in this league. We didn't start this game with the right mindset. And it bit us in the ass.' About the only saving grace came when the Celtics lost again, this time on the road to the Pacers." Frank Isola of the New York Daily News: "Mike D'Antoni's decision not to hold game-day shootarounds isn't about rest or X's and O's. Instead, it comes down to rush hour traffic. 'New York's a little bit different than other places,' D'Antoni said Monday Bvlgari Sunglasses. 'I just don't know if Amar'e being in a car for two hours in the morning of a game is the way to go. If we can get a shootaround the day before, if we can get our work done, then I don't think that's the way to go. If we can't get our work done then yeah, we'll do this.' Monday, the Knicks held their first home morning shootaround, which is standard operating procedure for most teams. D'Antoni does conduct game-day shootarounds on the road but has passed on holding them for home games. It's a questionable decision since the Knicks went 18-23 at home last year and were 19-17 entering Monday night's game against Orlando. ... Donnie Walsh suggested that getting the team out of bed for an early game-day workout isn't such a bad thing Police Sunglasses. 'When you're losing a lot you change something,' Walsh said. 'We'll see if the change helps us.' "

Joakim Noah said

Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times: "There were plenty of blunders earlier this season -- and, yes, some as recently as last month -- but the Lakers finally see something ahead of them. It's not the finish line. It's the staggering San Antonio Spurs Ray Ban Sunglasses . The Lakers suddenly have a Texas-sized carrot in front of them for their final nine games: San Antonio is down to a 31/2 -game lead atop the Western Conference after another loss Monday. ... Not all the Lakers are showing interest in the Spurs. 'It doesn't matter to us whether we catch them or not,' Kobe Bryant said. 'We try to win every game. If we catch them, so be it. If we don't, so be it.' Before the Lakers took the court Sunday against New Orleans, Derek Fisher walked past a TV in the locker room just as Memphis was finishing off San Antonio Burberry Sunglasses. Fisher showed no expression. In fact, he didn't even stop. For what it's worth, the Lakers trail the Spurs in the season series, 2-1." K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune: "As far as Tom Thibodeau is concerned, the Bulls lost their first home game since Jan. 18 on Monday morning as much as they did on Monday night. A sluggish, unfocused shootaround led to a sluggish, unfocused start and double-digit first-quarter deficit, and the 76ers held on for a 97-85 triumph. That snapped the Bulls' home win streak at 14 and dropped them to 32-5 at the United Center Miu Miu Sunglasses. 'There are really no excuses,' Joakim Noah said.

thinking the game was suddenly going to be easier

When he played, Kendrick Perkins [stats] was an average player for this team — good defender, decent rebounder, and not much more than a compulsive moving picker on the offensive end. All in all, a good role player who was surrounded by stars who made him look better every night Versace Sunglasses. If the loss of that guy is the reason for this funk, then maybe general manager Danny Ainge did make a mistake. He assumed the four stars could carry on without Kendrick Abdul-OlajuEwing. Maybe he gave them too much credit. Maybe they’re not as mentally tough as he thought." Jason Quick of The Oregonian: "It wasn't pretty, it wasn't dominating, and it wasn't against the full cast of the San Antonio Spurs, but the Blazers' 100-92 victory over the league leaders counted just as much as any other win, which pushed the Blazers (43-31) closer to the playoffs. 'We won,' said Andre Miller, who led Portland with 26 points. 'That's all that matters Bvlgari Sunglasses.' ... Less than an hour before the game, a buzz started circulating among the Blazers when they saw Parker on the court in a business suit. Eventually, Blazers forward Nicolas Batum went over to talk to Parker, a friend and fellow Frenchman. Parker told Batum that he was being held out along with starting power forward Antonio McDyess because Popovich wanted to prevent Parker from joining the injured ranks of Duncan (sprained ankle) and Ginobili (thigh bruise). Only small forward Richard Jefferson was among the normal starters for the Spurs, who sent out two rookies (Tiago Splitter and James Anderson) and two efficient reserves, sharp-shooting Matt Bonner and high-scoring George Hill Gucci Sunglasses. Immediately, Blazers coach Nate McMillan said the contest became 'a trap game' because of the way the mind works, thinking the game was suddenly going to be easier."

The Trade is just an excuse, and a lame one at that

'It was tough after that,' coach Stan Van Gundy said. Howard protested his sixth foul on an offensive rebound with one minute, 17 seconds left, and Orlando behind 108-106. He angrily flung the ball to the other end of the floor. 'It was one of those crazy games,' Magic point guard Chris Duhon. How crazy? Duhon injured his right thumb and was unable to play in the second half, leaving the Magic (47-27) with only one point guard -- Gilbert Arenas -- and just eight players Coach Sunglasses." Gerry Callahan of the Boston Herald: "Teams go through bad stretches. It happens. Even America’s team, Virginia Commonwealth, lost 11 times this season. The Celtics are going through an ugly stretch right now -- they have lost 6-of-11 and scored 90 points just three times in that span -- and there are more theories for their tailspin than tattoos on Delonte West’s torso. The new guys are still learning Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses. The old guys are pacing themselves. Everyone is waiting for one O’Neal or the other to show up. The top spot in the East means everything to Chicago and to Miami, and not so much to the Celtics, who went to Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals after finishing fourth in the regular season. The Celtics can blame their slump on any number of factors, but there is one thing they definitely cannot, they must not, attribute it to: The Trade. Sorry, but The Trade isn’t the reason for the slide Armani Sunglasses. The Trade is just an excuse, and a lame one at that.

Instead of holding them in August when basketball is barely even being thought of

Instead of holding them in August when basketball is barely even being thought of, the Hall-of-Fame inductions or even the announcements of who will be enshrined could be held at the NBA Finals Carrera Sunglasses.
With that said, it would be asking a whole lot to ask 77,000 people to fill up a dome seven straight times. On the other hand, it would be good to have a chance to see some of the league's elite teams come to town other than when they're playing the Rockets.
But it is certainly something that is at least fun to dream about Oakley Sunglasses.
Rockets Tonight
The Rockets (41-36) will continue their desperate chase to keep their slim hopes of making the playoffs alive as they take on the Sacramento Kings tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Center. The team is 3.0 games behind the Grizzlies (44-33) and also 3.0 behind the Hornets (44-33) for the final two playoff spots with 5 games to go Chanel Sunglasses. The Rockets own the tiebreaker over Memphis but not over New Orleans.

like the Bracket Town event here in Houston

What if the NBA Finals were held at football stadiums?
First, they'd have to stop spacing the games out too far apart. One of the worst aspect of the NBA playoffs and even the NBA Finals is how far apart each game seems to be cheap designer sunglasses. In a 7-game series, no teams should ever have to wait four days to play another game. You'd be asking a lot from people try and vacation somewhere for not one week but two Bvlgari Sunglasses.
Next, the ticket prices would have to be lower. You could get a number of fans to pay over $100 once for a ticket but doing that seven times is asking a lot Police Sunglasses. Perhaps a package could be setup where a fan pays $500-$800 for tickets to each game plus the ability to attend the extra events that would be spawned to go along with the NBA Finals, like the Bracket Town event here in Houston.

The Lakers make the Finals far too often for my liking but I digress

"It starts now, though," Anthony deadpanned. "Everything starts now."
If he finishes, he'll have the glory to go along with his money Ray Ban Sunglasses.
This weekend, I attended the Final Four that was held at Houston's Reliant Stadium.
It got me thinking…what if the NBA did something similar to this with the NBA Finals Burberry Sunglasses, putting it in one neutral site with a large, closeable or fully enclosed football stadium instead of alternating it between the Eastern Conference champion's home arena and Staple Cent—err, I mean the home arena of the Western Conference champion Miu Miu Sunglasses? The Lakers make the Finals far too often for my liking but I digress.

and then some

"When you have a player like Carmelo, you have to put a lot into your game planning," Thibodeau continued. "He commands double-teams in almost every area, whether it's in post-up, isolation, pick-and-roll, catch-and-shoot. He puts enormous pressure on you, so you have to game plan for him Bvlgari Sunglasses. You can't just rely on your principles. He's too special for that."
The Knicks are hoping that will continue to be the case Gucci Sunglasses. For the next several years, and then some.

Having [Rajon] Rondo on the ball is excellent

"Having [Rajon] Rondo on the ball is excellent. And then you have KG, who's a great anchor and reads things so well Coach Sunglasses. Plus, he's a great communicator on the back line, and there's not too many things that he hasn't seen and doesn't recognize very quickly. Add in Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, both very underrated. Those guys know how to play defense. I know they hit a lull, but they'll be tough and they'll be ready."
So, Melo will need to be, as well. But in order to be ready, he won't be able to rely on conventional production.
Somehow, some way, Anthony is going to have to rely on something other than isolations Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses, pick-and-rolls or the Knicks trying to spread the floor for him. At some point, because of Boston's defense, he'll have to figure out a way to exploit Pierce and newly acquired Jeff Green relatively quickly, before the Celtics have a chance to set their defense against him. And even when that is working Armani Sunglasses, there will still be double-teams thrown at him, plus a defense that will be so locked in that it'll be difficult for Anthony to break a sweat without Boston's permission.

where else will the fans turn while they're waiting

"One of the hardest principles to assimilate into your process is that of restraint. And understanding that any time you're team-building and your goal is to build something sustainable that has a foundation and a strong base Carrera Sunglasses, there is a level of patience and an approach you have to take where sometimes you have to wait for things to develop as opposed to looking for quick fixes or things that might make you feel better."
[+] EnlargeLayne Murdoch/NBAE/Getty ImagesKeeping Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City was a small-market triumph for GM Sam Presti. That's actually where small markets have an advantage Oakley Sunglasses. With everything going on in Los Angeles and with the championship-or-bust expectations placed on the Lakers and Celtics franchises, those teams have to do everything they can, spend whatever it takes to win now, or they'll be irrelevant Chanel Sunglasses. When you're the only major pro team in the entire state, in the Thunder's case, where else will the fans turn while they're waiting?

The hope turns to the Oklahoma City Thunder -- with their San Antonio-trained general manager

The hope turns to the Oklahoma City Thunder -- with their San Antonio-trained general manager, Sam Presti -- and their current spot among the four best teams in the Western Conference cheap designer sunglasses.

The Thunder have some of the same revenue limitations. They decided they could afford to be patient. That meant no drastic moves even when the team got off to a 3-29 start two seasons ago Bvlgari Sunglasses.

"Every team handles their business differently," Presti said. "For us, we've chosen to focus on trying to build a team that is sustainable and, in doing that, certainly have had to make some decisions that were very tough decisions Police Sunglasses. Understanding that, at the time, they were difficult for people to understand and to accept but also recognizing that for us to continue trying to build in a proactive fashion, they were necessary.

O'Connor traded Williams because he wasn't sure

O'Connor traded Williams because he wasn't sure that Williams would stay in Utah once he had the option to become a free agent in 2012 Ray Ban Sunglasses. Coming on the heels of Jerry Sloan's resignation, it felt like an especially crushing blow to the hopes of small markets. Many look up to Utah's ability to field playoff teams year after year. The Jazz were the model of stability, with Sloan occupying the coach's seat since 1988 and Larry Miller repeatedly writing big checks after becoming the full-fledged owner in 1986. Miller died in 2009. Even longtime play-by-play announcer Hot Rod Hundley has retired Burberry Sunglasses.

The Spurs are considered the model small-market franchise, winning four championships between 1999 and 2007, the result of stability plus ingenuity Miu Miu Sunglasses. (They were among the first and most successful at finding and incorporating foreign-born players.) Yet some will tell you they modeled themselves after the Jazz. And if the Jazz model can't be sustained, then what?

Less than a week before he was traded by the Jazz to the Nets

Less than a week before he was traded by the Jazz to the Nets, Williams lamented that, in Utah, "It's hard to get free agents. It is Versace Sunglasses. You look at [the Jazz] the last couple years, besides Booz [Carlos Boozer], we haven't had any really big free agents. Most people either got traded or drafted. We had some great second-round picks that have blossomed for us, Paul Millsap, Jeremy Evans, some of those. It's hard. I mean, I've tried. I recruit the heck out of people."

So did Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor Bvlgari Sunglasses.

"Do you make a call to those people?" O'Connor said. "Sure. If they say no, you move on Gucci Sunglasses. Those are excuses. You can win. If your ownership's committed, you can win."

The answers didn't get any more brutally honest than Corey Maggette's.

"I don't think so," said Maggette, who has played in Orlando Coach Sunglasses, Los Angeles and Oakland and now plays in Milwaukee. "They can't compete with these [large] markets, you know?

"It's just like saying, 'Milwaukee or Los Angeles? Where do you want to go? Where do you want to live?' It's tough, man Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses."

Can they show us something now

?Atlanta’s struggle for relevancy
The most depressing playoff team in the league has a chance to reinvigorate itself with a strong showing against the Magic cheap designer sunglasses, the same club that humiliated Atlanta in a four-game sweep last season. Since then, the Hawks badly overpaid Joe Johnson; made a half-hearted commitment to a motion offense that fell flat; failed to develop Jeff Teague Bvlgari Sunglasses; saw rookie coach Larry Drew clash now and then with Josh Smith; lost several awful blowouts at home; and put up a negative overall scoring margin normally associated with a lottery team.
The Hawks are capped out through 2013 as things stand now, and they don’t appear to be going anywhere with this group Police Sunglasses. Can they show us something now?

a super-entertaining series if the Knicks are game

? Are the revamped Knicks ready for prime time?
New York’s first playoff appearance since 2003-04 is a nice story Ray Ban Sunglasses. But remember that this team re-made itself on the fly and has had two-dozen games to undergo the sort of progress it has taken Miami a full season to get right. The reality is that the Knicks probably aren’t ready, and that the Anthony trade was not really about this season, anyway. The team has defended poorly since the deal, and Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire are still learning how to play together Burberry Sunglasses.
Still: This offense can be deadly if the stars play it right — especially Anthony, whose tendency to stop the ball won’t work against an elite defense like Boston’s Miu Miu Sunglasses. This could be a super-entertaining series if the Knicks are game.

in the slowed-down world of the playoffs

PREVIEW: Mavericks vs. Blazers
? Denver’s battle with conventional wisdom
Mike D’Antoni’s Suns became the darlings for those who root against lazy truisms that say offense-first teams can’t win championships Versace Sunglasses. Denver is that team this season, but not because it’s bad at defense; it’s been one of the league’s top-three defensive clubs since swapping Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks in February Bvlgari Sunglasses.
But the Nuggets could challenge the idea that a team must have one or two go-to guys — those isolation beasts — to win in the playoffs. The Nuggets don’t really have that kind of player, though a couple of guys here could grow into that role. The Nuggets score in transition and with fast-paced movement in the half court — slipped screens, hard cuts to the hoop and along the baseline, decisive passes Gucci Sunglasses. Can that work in the slowed-down world of the playoffs?

Portland is a dangerous team

In other words: This team badly needs a playoff run now, especially after going out in the first round in three of the last four seasons Coach Sunglasses.
There may not be a more puzzling team in the league. At one point, Dallas was 43-9 with Nowitzki in the lineup, and it flattened just about every elite team it came across. Then Nowitzki got hurt, the Mavs’ defense fell off a bit and they lost nine straight games to Western Conference playoff teams before beating the Hornets in the season finale Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses. Dallas has to recapture its early-season form in order to do any damage.
Two of those nine consecutive losses came against the Blazers, a team that hasn’t won a playoff series since 2000. Things have somehow come together after two devastating injuries (to Greg Oden and Brandon Roy) and one major trade (for Gerald Wallace), and the Blazers present serious matchup problems for Dallas Armani Sunglasses. Portland is a dangerous team.

The narrative suggests that

The narrative suggests that the Thunder should be happy to win a playoff series, lose to San Antonio and come back in 2012 to take the next step in their development Christian Dior Sunglasses. But their play since acquiring Perkins suggests that they might be ready to contend for a title now. They whipped Denver (their first-round opponent) in back-to-back games earlier this month, and they’ve been playing elite defense since Perkins replaced Jeff Green in the starting lineup. Do not be shocked if they are playing in June.
PREVIEW: Thunder vs. Nuggets
? The most intriguing first-round series: Dirk’s last ride vs. Portland’s first-round jinx
To call this Dirk Nowitzki’s ”last ride” is obviously dramatic Oakley Sunglasses Cheap, but the future of this Mavericks team is uncertain. Jason Kidd is 38 and will be a free agent after next season along with Jason Terry. Tyson Chandler, the anchor of Dallas’ semi-revived defense, is a free agent after this season and plays the same position as Brendan Haywood, to whom Dallas has already committed more than $50 million Arnette Sunglasses. Caron Butler will be a free agent, Roddy Beaubois’ development has hit a snag, Shawn Marion is declining and Corey Brewer is at the edge of Rick Carlisle’s rotation.

Currently ranked fifth in the league with

Currently ranked fifth in the league with his 10.4 rebounds per game Fendi Sunglasses, Humphries has changed his game from being a guy who tried to look for his own offense into someone who'll crash the glass and look to get his that way - a formula that's worked as he's also enjoying career highs in points and field goal percentage.
Most Surprising Moment: Jerry Sloan's resignation
It happened completely out of the blue and rocked the basketball world Roberto Cavalli Sunglasses.
When Jerry Sloan suddenly resigned as head coach of the Utah Jazz, it almost seemed unreal. After all, Sloan wasn't just a coach, he was an institution of the NBA. For over 20 years, he was seen patrolling the sidelines in Salt Lake City and for it to come to such an abrupt end Ferragamo Sunglasses, it didn't seem like the right way for him to go out.

The Nuggets have played remarkably

The Nuggets have played remarkably well since the trade Carrera Sunglasses, something no one saw coming, and the fact they're doing it utilizing an "all-for-one" approach is refreshing, particularly because of the approach the team had when Anthony was on the roster.
Most Surprising Player: Kris Humphries
Unless you're a New Jersey Nets fan or were a fantasy player this season, the name Kris Humphries probably doesn't mean a lot to you - except if you're the type that likes to keep up with the Kardashians Oakley Sunglasses.
Regardless of how well known he was before, Humphries is a player that you should know now Chanel Sunglasses. The seven-year veteran seemed to have finally figured out what his talents are best suited for - rebounding.

but aren't in the same tier as the pair that left

Overall, everything about the situation with Kuester and his players has been a mess and isn't something that should be occurring on any team cheap designer sunglasses.
Most Surprising Team: Denver Nuggets
Unlike some other teams that could have fit under this category Bvlgari Sunglasses, the Denver Nuggets weren't a bad team this season.
However, the reason why Denver has been so shocking is because of the improvement it's seen after losing its two best players Police Sunglasses. The big trade saw both Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups depart for a collection of draft picks and players who are good but aren't in the same tier as the pair that left.

Kuester got ejected and Tracy McGrady was seen laughing

Most Disappointing Moment: The John Kuester benching of his veterans
The Detroit Pistons' John Kuester has had quite the rookie season as a head coach for all the wrong reasons. Taking over a situation where there's little room for improvement because of bad contracts and a team that's comprised of veterans whose best years are behind them will make any kind of success hard to come by Ray Ban Sunglasses. And when those veterans fail to respect the coach even the tiniest bit, the chance for any kind of accomplishment is immediately nixed.
Such is what happened with Kuester and the older players on his roster Burberry Sunglasses.
The disrespect got so bad at one point that four players reportedly skipped a practice as a form of protest against the coach, which left him no choice but to bench them in the next game they played after their demonstration Miu Miu Sunglasses. In that game, Kuester got ejected and Tracy McGrady was seen laughing.

has flourished in the starting spotlight

Most Disappointing Player: Aaron Brooks
Brooks enjoyed a fantastic season in 2009-10, averaging 19.6 points and 5.3 assists per game on his way to becoming the league's most improved player Versace Sunglasses, and many viewed him as a guy, along with Kevin Martin, who would be a cornerstone piece for the Houston Rockets as they slowly moved on in a direction without Yao Ming.
The third-year guard out of Oregon started the season strong enough, highlighted by an opening night 24-point, nine-assist performance, but an injury occurred after playing just five games and kept him out for 21 contests. When he did return to the lineup Bvlgari Sunglasses, his play was spotty and he was eventually traded to the Phoenix Suns, where his inconsistency continued playing behind Steve Nash.
Between the two clubs he's played for this season, Brooks has only averaged 11 points and four assists per game, and those disappointing numbers look even worse as his backup in Houston Gucci Sunglasses, Kyle Lowry, has flourished in the starting spotlight.

Kobe Bryant(notes) has struggled with consistency late

Kobe Bryant(notes) has struggled with consistency late in the season and it is essential for him
to get back in his groove as the playoffs approach. Bryant has shot below 40 percent in three of
the last five games and his shooting touch has been off in the last 10 games despite averaging 27
points per game cheap designer sunglasses.
This is the sixth and final installment of our 2011 NBA Awards coverage. You can also read about
the MVP, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, Coach of the Year and Defensive Player of the
Year awards.
The NBA sixth man is one of the more vexing positions in sports Bvlgari Sunglasses. Putting aside ego for the
betterment of the team is tough for many players, especially when they might view themselves as
better than one of the starting five. But any great sixth man will tell you: It’s not about who
starts, but who finishes. An elite sixth man will change the tenor of the game, provide a spark
off the bench and, often times, quarterback the second unit Police Sunglasses. Guys like Jason Terry and James Posey
have made a living of it. Posey was a key cog in the Celtic’s defeat of the Lakers in the 2008
NBA Finals and Terry has helped deflect attention away from Dirk Nowitzki for years. Nobody this
season however, has shined brighter in the sixth-man role than Lamar Odom, who has relished it in
a way no one saw coming.

Tuesday night and he was as intimidating as ever

Despite playing two NBA Playoffs bound team before they meet the San Antonio Spurs, the most
important game the Lakers will be before the playoffs will be this matchup April 12. The Spurs are
getting healthy and now that they have survived the Lakers run for the top seed in the Western

Will Phil Jackson play a game of cat and mouse in preparation of a possible Western Conference
Finals matchup? The possibility exists but Jackson was adamant that he will play his starters in
the final four games despite the Lakers not having any chance of advancing into the top seed in
the conference Burberry Sunglasses.
Andrew Bynum(notes) has been on the warpath under the basket since returning from his two game

Kobe Bryant has stayed relatively healthy this year for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Photo by: Executive office of President Public Domain Watching them play the Utah Jazz and the Golden State Warriors on back to back nights it was
apparent the team was listless and bored in both games Versace Sunglasses. Their shooting was lazy and haphazard and
their defense was well below the standard in which they played since emerging from the NBA All
Star break on fire Bvlgari Sunglasses.
The Lakers will now take on three NBA Playoffs teams and their first battle will be against the
Portland Trailblazers. The Lakers will be looking to beat the Trailblazers for the fourth time
this year when they meet up Friday night.
The Lakers schedule does not get any easier with a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Kendrick Perkins(notes) has been stirring the pot by calling Lakers coach Phil Jackson "arrogant"

and the Thunder is in a prime position to gain motivation and traction with a win over the Lakers.

Coach Mike D'Antoni's plans for Billups and Carmelo Anthony

Coach Mike D'Antoni's plans for Billups and Carmelo Anthony in the finale are unclear. Anthony has
been outstanding lately, averaging 30.3 points on 49.0 percent shooting in his last nine games.
While the Knicks can't exactly send a message by beating Boston's reserves, they wouldn't mind
avoiding a season-series sweep Coach Sunglasses. The Celtics have won the first three meetings, although they were
decided by an average of just 5.3 points.
The Knicks haven't won in Boston since Nov. 24, 2006, losing eight straight there -- seven since
the Celtics acquired Garnett and Allen.
The Los Angeles Lakers have dropped three games in a row and two of them have been against teams
that are already eliminated from the NBA Playoffs Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses. Is this Lakers mini slump a case of them
playing down to the level of their competition or a lack of focus as the long season comes to a
close?
The Lakers need to snap out of their funk before their important meeting with the San Antonio
Spurs Tuesday April 12 Armani Sunglasses. The Lakers team that was unbeatable after the NBA All Star game is now a

Rivers said he's looking to "reset the team," which is embroiled in a 9-11 stretch that includes
lopsided losses to Chicago and Miami in the past week Christian Dior Sunglasses.
"Mostly it's mental, all the time, with anybody on any team," Rivers said. "They're the best
conditioned athletes in the world, so I don't believe in the whole getting-tired theory unless
you're allowing yourself to get tired. They just need the rest. And the break. The whole reason is
it allows us to have practice with energy, and we need that more than anything Oakley Sunglasses Cheap."
New York's Amare Stoudemire has needed time to rest his sprained left ankle, which may keep him
out of a fourth straight game Wednesday, although he is expected to return for the playoffs.
The Knicks still managed to extend their winning streak to seven before losing 103-90 at home to
the Bulls on Tuesday. They led by three at halftime, but Chicago began the third quarter on a 26-2

once the second season commences on Saturday night

SF-Shawn Marion
Until Caron Butler went down with a season-ending knee injury just after the first of the year,
Marion had carved out a nice niche for himself coming off the Dallas bench Versace Sunglasses. He, Jason Terry and JJ
Barea helped give the Mavs some solid play off the pine and that talented trio was a big reason why
Dallas' second unit ranked among the best benches in the league. But the Matrix has been starting
in many of the games since Butler left the lineup and while some feared Marion's numbers might drop
off considerably as a starter, they have not. He finished the year with averaging 13 points and 7
boards a night. Sure, his shot might be far from pretty Bvlgari Sunglasses, but he plays hard, plays decent defense
and get rebounds. What more can one ask for?
PF-Dirk Nowitzki
Dirk remains the focal point of the Mavs' offense and fans have come to expect huge games from the
Big German whether it's in the regular season or the playoffs. This year's postseason shouldn't be
any different Gucci Sunglasses. Nowitzki comes off a regular season where he averaged 23 and 7, solid numbers for
the ex-league MVP but Dirk could be at his best once the second season commences on Saturday night.

playoff teams in the past have been more than a little short of

SG-DeShawn Stevenson
Stevenson might have sat for much of the last several weeks of the regular season, but to his
credit Coach Sunglasses, Carlisle admitted he had made a mistake in benching the tenacious and hard-nosed ex-Wizard
in favor of Roddy Beaubois. With Roddy B's status for the Blazers series being up in the air at
best, starting the defensive-minded California native is basically the only option that makes sense
for this team going forward in the opening round of the playoffs. Defense is something that is
definitely at a premium in the postseason Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses, so it's basically a no-brainer to start Stevenson at the
two spot against the Blazers. He can also contribute some offense, as was evidenced by his ability
to knock down threes at different points in the season. Another reason to start this guy is that he
gives the Mavs some much-needed attitude Armani Sunglasses, something Dallas playoff teams in the past have been more
than a little short of.

As the start of the 2011 NBA Playoffs looms

As the start of the 2011 NBA Playoffs looms about 24 hours away for the Mavericks, the speculation
about what kind of rotation head coach Rick Carlisle might use against Portland is well underway.
For most of the year, Dallas has been a pretty deep team and their bench has ranked as one of the
highest-scoring second units in the Association for much of the 2010-11 campaign. But as anyone who
has ever watched much of the NBA Playoffs knows, for the most part, bench rotations shorten once
the postseason begins. Most teams roll with seven or eight-man rotations but there are some teams
that might even play nine Christian Dior Sunglasses. How many will Carlisle go with? That's tough to say but here's a look at
how it might shake out.
STARTERS
PG-Jason Kidd
Forget all the talk about him being in his late 30s, Kidd looks ready to roll for what could be one
of his last shots at an NBA title. Yes, he is 38 but there have been very few if any real instances
where the ex-Cal Golden Bear truly showed his age this year Oakley Sunglasses Cheap. Sure, he did get a week off late in
the regular season but Carlisle did that to make sure J-Kidd is ready to go once the second season
starts. He can still run the offense with an incredible amount of precision and still has the
vision to make that incredible pass to an open teammate. Kidd can also grab some boards and his
shooting is also something that must not be taken lightly. He is the fuel in the Mavs' offense and
if he plays close to the level he showed all year Arnette Sunglasses, this might be a long playoff run for the 2010-11
Mavericks.

Carlos Boozer was signed amidst some controversy as a free agent in 2004

Carlos Boozer was signed amidst some controversy as a free agent in 2004. He is a two-time All-Star
and has averaged 17.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He is best known for frustrating Jazz fans
and missing a lot of games due to injury Prada Sunglasses. The reincarnation of Stockton to Malone with he and point
guard Deron Williams never came to pass, and he left the team as a free agent last summer.

he is currently averaging 17.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game

The Utah Forwards:
Bryon Russell, David Benoit, Paul Millsap and Carlos Boozer are some of the forwards who have
played for the Jazz.
Bryon Russell played with Stockton and Malone and spent nine seasons with the team Fendi Sunglasses. He was one of
the second-round picks that have played significant minutes for the Jazz. He was a good role player
who was often asked to clear out for Karl Malone. He ended his career with 7.9 points per game.
David Benoit signed with the Jazz as a free agent in 1991 and stayed with the team for five
seasons. He was a good complement to the Mailman and averaged seven points per game for his career.
Paul Millsap is perhaps the best second-round find in Jazz history Roberto Cavalli Sunglasses. He has spent the last five
seasons with the Jazz and gets better each year. He is known for his tough play and his mid-range
shooting touch. He has a career high of 46 points scored against the Miami Heat earlier this
season Ferragamo Sunglasses. His average has risen each season and he is currently averaging 17.4 points and 6.7

in the conference the day the Buffs officially join

7. Oregon State. Jared Cunningham, Ahmad Starks and Devon Collier combined for 58 points in the Pac-10 tourney victory over Stanford -- and all three are due back Coach Sunglasses. (Cunningham should be one of the league's best players.) But the Beavers' propensity for clunkers makes it difficult to project them for the top half of the conference. 8. Washington State. A difficult team to project due to roster attrition. Top scorer Klay Thompson is expected to enter the NBA Draft Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses, but other players may leave the program, as well. An implosion isn't likely, but it's possible. 9. USC. Departed big men Nikola Vucevic and Alex Stepheson won't be easily replaced. The Trojans are in decent shape in the backcourt with Jio Fontan and Maurice Jones, but there are questions everywhere else and coach Kevin O'Neill's behavior doesn't exactly inspire confidence. 10. Colorado. The newcomers are expected to lose wing Alec Burks to the NBA — he's a potential Lottery Pick — and must make due without No Armani Sunglasses. 2 scorer Cory Higgins. But Tad Boyle becomes one of the best four or five coaches in the conference the day the Buffs officially join.

comfortable with second-year coach Dana Altman

3. Washington. Even without all-conference guard Isaiah Thomas, the Huskies should have an elite perimeter unit with Abdul Gaddy (assuming no glitches in his recovery from a knee injury), Terrence Ross, C.J. Wilcox and Scott Suggs. If the big men develop, UW could win the league. Arizona. Losing Williams, a projected top-three pick in the draft, is a double-whammy Christian Dior Sunglasses. Not only did he provide 19.1 pts and 8.1 rebs per game, he made everyone else better — from point guard Lamont Jones to forward Solomon Hill. The recruiting class is well regarded but hardly guaranteed to make an immediate, and consistent, impact. 5. Stanford. The Cardinal returns its entire roster (assuming Jeremy Green rejoins the team after being suspended from school for the spring quarter) Oakley Sunglasses Cheap. Green, Anthony Brown and Dwight Powell should combine for 45-50 ppg and get the Cardinal into the postseason, although the NIT seems a bit more likely than the NCAAs. 6. Oregon. The Ducks were one of the league's surprise teams in 2010-11. Losing top scorer and rebounder Joevan Catron is a blow, but he's hardly irreplaceable Arnette Sunglasses. And look for overall improvement as the Ducks become more comfortable with second-year coach Dana Altman.

Arizona forward Derrick Williams' decision Wednesday

Arizona forward Derrick Williams' decision Wednesday to enter the NBA Draft changes the dynamic of the 2011-12 Pac-12 basketball season. With Williams, Arizona would have been the heavy favorite and a preseason top-10 pick Prada Sunglasses. Without Williams, the Wildcats are one of several teams with legitimate designs on the conference title. Here's how it shapes up at this early point. 1. UCLA. The Bruins have holes on the perimeter caused by the departures of NBA- Draft-bound guard Malcolm Lee and forward Tyler Honeycutt Louis Vuitton Sunglasses. But they should be solid at the point with Lazeric Jones and absolutely loaded up front with centers Josh Smith and Anthony Stover, power forward Reeves Nelson and David and Travis Wear, who are eligible after transferring from North Carolina. 2. Cal. A solid contender for the title with four returning starters, the best wing guard tandem in the league in Jorge Gutierrez and Allen Crabbe Replica Oakley Sunglasses, and the conference's best coach (Mike Montgomery). The Bears were four games back in 2010-11 and should improve relative to the teams that finished ahead of them (Arizona, UCLA and Washington).

Speaking of that Bulls-Pacers game

Speaking of that Bulls-Pacers game, Danny Granger had a quote about Derrick Rose after the game. Grady Sizemore returned for the Cleveland Indians, smacking a homer and leading Cleveland to another win. In related news, Sizemore looks a lot like James Franco in this picture Fendi Sunglasses. 11. OKLAHOMA Number: 4 players Seasons lost: 10 Players: Blake Griffin (2009, Soph.), Tiny Gallon (2010, Fr.), Tommy Mason-Griffin (2010, Fr.), Willie Warren (2010, Soph.) Buzz: Nobody can blame Griffin for choosing to turn pro after his sophomore year. Griffin was the top overall pick in the 2009 draft after winning the Naismith and Wooden awards as a sophomore Fendi Sunglasses. But what about the other guys on this list? Warren was a second-round pick after a so-so sophomore season, while Gallon and Mason-Griffin went undrafted Roberto Cavalli Sunglasses. NBA Most Valuable Player candidate Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls was spending time with adidas ’ footwear-development teams one weekend in 2009 when he saw the shoe that he’ll wear in the NBA playoffs tomorrow. Rose clamored for the shoe to be made available immediately, but adidas assuaged him by saying he’ d love it when R&D was finished Ferragamo Sunglasses. And ready it now is, with adidas taking yet another step in providing its athletes and consumers with the sports industry’s lightest footwear.

Buzz: Perhaps one of the reasons the Big East has reigned as the nation's top conference for the past several years is because the league hasn't lost much of its top talent early. Syracuse is the only Big East program on this list, and its early entries have had mixed results in the draft Carrera Sunglasses. Flynn and Johnson were lottery picks, and Greene also was selected in the first round. But Harris and Devendorf weren't drafted at all. 10. GEORGIA TECH Number: 4 players Seasons lost: 10 Players: Javaris Crittenton (2007, Fr.) Oakley Sunglasses, Derrick Favors (2010, Fr.), Gani Lawal (2010, Jr.), Thaddeus Young (2007, Fr.) Buzz: Georgia Tech is the only team on this list that hasn't at least reached a regional semifinal in the past five years. Tech's series of one-and-done players prevented the Yellow Jackets from producing sustained success and indirectly may have contributed to the firing of former coach Paul Hewitt. Favors and Young were lottery picks after their freshman seasons, while Crittenton also went in the first round Chanel Sunglasses. Lawal stayed through his junior year and was drafted in the second round.

Wes Johnson (2010, Jr.)

8. FLORIDA Number: 6 players Seasons lost: 8 Players: Corey Brewer (2007, Jr.), Taurean Green (2007, Jr.) cheap designer sunglasses, Al Horford (2007, Jr.), Joakim Noah (2007, Jr.), Marreese Speights (2008, Soph.), Nick Calathes (2009, Soph.). Buzz: Florida's presence on this list is misleading, as the Gators won a second consecutive national title in 2007 largely because their top underclassmen opted against leaving early to enter the draft. Brewer, Green, Horford and Noah could have turned pro after leading Florida to the 2006 championship as sophomores. They instead chose to stay in school for one more year. Horford, Brewer and Noah were lottery picks, while Green went in the second round Bvlgari Sunglasses. Speights was a first-round pick the following year. Calathes left school after his sophomore season to sign with Panathinaikos, a Greek pro team. 9. SYRACUSE Number: 5 players Seasons lost: 8 Players: Donte Greene (2008, Fr.), Eric Devendorf (2009, Jr.) Police Sunglasses, Jonny Flynn (2009, Soph.), Paul Harris (2009, Jr.), Wes Johnson (2010, Jr.)

as well as Selby

Buzz: Early entries have caused UCLA's program to fall back to the pack after making three consecutive Final Four appearances from 2006-08. It's tough to blame the players who decided to leave early Ray Ban Sunglasses. Holiday, Love and Westbrook were lottery picks, while Afflalo and Farmar also went in the first round. Mbah a Moute was a second-round pick who has worked his way into the Milwaukee Bucks' rotation. UCLA will lose two more early entries this year, as Tyler Honeycutt and Malcolm Lee have said they will hire agents and enter the draft Burberry Sunglasses. 7. KANSAS Number: 6 players Seasons lost: 10 Players: Cole Aldrich (2010, Jr.), Darrell Arthur (2008, Soph.), Mario Chalmers (2008, Jr.), Xavier Henry (2010, Fr.), Brandon Rush (2008, Jr.), Julian Wright (2007, Soph.) Buzz: Although Kansas has dealt with plenty of early entries, most of them played multiple seasons before leaving. The one-and-done players on this list are Xavier Henry and Josh Selby. Arthur, Chalmers and Rush left early after helping Kansas win the 2008 national title. Aldrich, Henry and Wright were lottery picks Miu Miu Sunglasses. Arthur and Rush also went in the first round, while Chalmers was taken in the second round. Marcus and Markieff Morris will join the list of early entries from Kansas this year, as well as Selby.

Versace Sunglasses, Avery Bradley (2010, Fr.), Kevin Durant (2007, Fr.), Daniel Gibson (2006, Soph.), P.J. Tucker (2006, Jr.) Buzz: Aldridge, Augustin and Gibson left school after leading Texas to a regional final in 2006. Texas still got back to the tournament the following season with a freshman class that included Durant and Augustin, who also had abbreviated college careers Bvlgari Sunglasses. Durant, Aldridge and Augustin were lottery picks. Bradley also went in the first round, while Gibson and Tucker were taken in the second round. 6. UCLA Number: 6 players Seasons lost: 12 Players: Arron Afflalo (2007, Jr.), Jordan Farmar (2006, Soph.), Jrue Holiday (2009, Fr.), Kevin Love (2008, Fr.) the midst of a possible player lockout

5. You OK with UCLA's Ben Howland reportedly close to hiring an AAU coach from Atlanta? I'm OK with anything within the rules, and this is within the rules. Honestly, I don't know why more coaches don't do it Ray Ban Sunglasses. Success in college basketball is rooted in recruiting, and if I were a high-major coach my staff would feature one assistant to help me coach and two player-getters, and if one of them had a direct link to a prominent AAU program, well, that would be terrific. So if UCLA (an Adidas school) hires Korey McCray from the Atlanta Celtics (an Adidas program), it'll be viewed as more smart than shady in my eyes. I've never pretended this sport is anything other than what it is, and what it is, is a sport where men make millions of dollars when they win and get fired when they don't Burberry Sunglasses. The best way to ensure winning is to get talented players, and the best way to get talented players is to create advantages. Best I can tell, Howland is in the process of creating a nice advantage that could lead to Class of 2011 standout Kevin Ware -- a Georgia native and former Tennessee recruit who is now back on the market -- enrolling at UCLA in time for next season. If I had just lost Tyler Honeycutt and Malcolm Lee to the NBA Draft, I would almost certainly do the same thing. The National Basketball Assn. is heading into the 2011 playoffs on the heels of what the league says is one of its most successful seasons on TV and the Internet so far. And through online video, smartphone and tablet apps and social media gaming Miu Miu Sunglasses, the NBA is working to keep the momentum up after the season ends, a champion is crowned, and, in the worst-case scenario, if it finds itself in the midst of a possible player lockout.

Used to be a new coach would get

Used to be a new coach would get five years (or at least four) before a school would give up on him. But coaches are now getting fired after three losing seasons (Kentucky, of course, got Billy Gillispie after two Versace Sunglasses, but that's a different deal), and it's causing people to be more careful with their career choices. It's better to make great money for 15 years than it is to make super-great money for three. That's the new mindset, and it's a wise one. 3. Why won't Miami hire Kansas State's Frank Martin? Because Miami is stupid Bvlgari Sunglasses. 4. Will Arizona's Derrick Williams be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft? Perhaps ... but I would take Kyrie Irving. The one-and-done point guard from Duke was basically the consensus No. 1 pick with NBA scouts in November and December, and I wouldn't let an unfortunate toe injury move me off him. Williams could be a future star, but I think Irving definitely is one. So I would go with Irving No. 1 and then put Williams, Kentucky's Enes Kanter and North Carolina's Harrison Barnes (provided he's in the draft, which remains uncertain) at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 in some order to be determined after workouts Gucci Sunglasses.

Terrence Jennings has Louisville in limbo as he tests

Terrence Jennings has Louisville in limbo as he tests the NBA Draft waters. (Getty Images) So I would love it (for selfish reasons). And the move would be great for college coaches Coach Sunglasses. But it's a pretty crummy deal for underclassmen on the fence because it'll rush the process, and it's proof that the ACC coaches who proposed the new date are more interested in knowing how next season's roster will look as soon as possible than they are in truly helping their players make well-informed decisions. That's a bad message to send, but I'm not surprised. The NBA has the one- and-done rule because the NBA believes that's what's best for the NBA, and now the NCAA is close to making underclassmen decide their futures the week after the title game because the NCAA believes that's what's best for the NCAA. In other words, we have two billion-dollar entities doing what's best for them with little regard for anything else Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses. I think that's called the American Way. 2. Are you surprised non-BCS coaches keep rejecting offers from BCS schools? Not at all because some of the desirable non-BCS coaches -- guys like VCU's Shaka Smart, Butler's Brad Stevens, Memphis' Josh Pastner, Xavier's Chris Mack, etc. -- are now making nearly (or in many cases much more than) $1 million a year. So they're well-compensated and comfortable. Why run from that for a mid-level or lower-level job in a power conference that could have you fired in three years Armani Sunglasses? Yes, three years.

When asked if the NFL’s labor issues

When asked if the NFL’s labor issues could have an affect on the NBA’s pending labor situation, Lakers guard and players union president Derek Fisher(notes) said: “A lot of lot of issues that are being dealt with on the NFL side are giving both NFL owners and NBA players a little bit of a glimpse of what’s going to happen in our negotiations Christian Dior Sunglasses.” … Frank Hamblen was a Kings assistant coach when the franchise played its first game in Sacramento in 1985 after moving from Kansas City. He was in attendance for possibly the last game in Sacramento as an assistant with the Lakers on Wednesday. “The Sacramento people are finding out how the Kansas City people felt,” Hamblen said. “[Then-Kings ownership] took the team away from Kansas City and left their fans high and dry. It’s a sad day for fans when their franchises leave, if indeed this one does Oakley Sunglasses Cheap.” It's good for me because I write about college basketball and thus have to worry with these things. At the moment, the deadline is May 8. So I have to worry until May 8. But if the NCAA board of directors later this month endorses a policy already passed by the legislative council, that date will move to April 10, and that means I would be done worrying with who is and isn't returning to school just a week after the national title game Arnette Sunglasses.

Owners of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and the HP Pavilion

Owners of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and the HP Pavilion arena appear to be spearheading hopes of bringing an NBA team to San Jose. Mayor Chuck Reed of San Jose told Yahoo! Sports that Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment Enterprises reached out to the Maloof brothers, owners of the Kings, about bringing the franchise to San Jose to no avail as the Maloofs are intent on moving to Anaheim. The HP Pavilion holds 18,500 seats for basketball with 66 suites. It hosted a regional in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament last year and hosted the Golden State Warriors during the 1995-96 season while their arena in nearby Oakland was renovated Prada Sunglasses. “We have all the ingredients for [basketball],” Reed said. “We just need someone that wants to buy a team and put them in the arena. That’s all.” … Kansas freshman guard Josh Selby will probably get drafted outside the lottery, one NBA assistant general manager said. Selby entered the draft this week and is expected to hire an agent. “Josh probably should’ve went back to school since he didn’t play well this year,” one NBA scout said. … Washington’s Isaiah Thomas says he still has not hired an agent, but has no plans of returning to school. The 5-foot-8 guard isn’t certain if he will take part in the pre-draft camp in Chicago and is confident he will overcome concerns about his height Louis Vuitton Sunglasses. “Height is not an issue, especially the way the NBA game is now,” Thomas said. “You really don’t see guards posting up like Gary Payton back in the day full court. It’s just something that I have to overcome and prove to these scouts and GMs that it’s not a liability Replica Oakley Sunglasses. I’m gonna prove that.” Thomas will work out with fellow Seattle native and mentor Jason Terry(notes) of the Dallas Mavericks this offseason to prepare for NBA. …

it looks fantastic doing so

Throughout, though, Scream 4 hints at even bigger thematic fish to fry. Community star Alison Brie appears as Sidney’s publicist, a spotlight chaser whose interest in booking high-profile junk-media appearances supersedes reading even a page of her client’s wrenching book Prada Sunglasses. Webcams unavailable 15 years ago are now worn on heads, carried in hands and stowed in all-night Stab-athon screenings, documenting young Woodsboro’s cavalier attitude toward life and death. Wanna talk like Ghostface? There’s an app for that. “One generation’s tragedy is the next one’s joke,” Dewey laments to a comely young deputy who may or may not have a heavily mediated Sidney fixation of her own Louis Vuitton Sunglasses. See where this is going? Ultimately, explaining the film’s real ambition risks spoiling not only its third act but all of its dumb, self-loathing, post-millennial fury — an upshot that, unlike those of its more innocently ironic franchise predecessors, may be the only reason to subject oneself to yet another Scream film. It didn’t have to be this way, either: The cast is game, with early cameos fitting in place like snug, doomed nesting dolls and Anthony Anderson of all people delivering one of the more affecting, darkly humorous bit parts in the Scream canon Replica Oakley Sunglasses. Ace cinematographer Peter Deming dazzles as usual, bending raw shadows into mask-like illusions and painting the Stab-athon sequence with shades of red more intoxicating than any of the gallons of blood spilled in front of his camera. At least when the movie falls apart, it looks fantastic doing so.

Which isn’t to say it’s good

Which isn’t to say it’s good, though common standards of quality rarely apply to any film with the number four appended to its title Fendi Sunglasses . To its credit, the Scream braintrust has always known this: In 1996, the ingenious first film in the blockbuster horror-comedy franchise sent up the “rules” of the slasher genre while hewing fastidiously close to them. A year later, screenwriter Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven reteamed to do the same for slasher sequels, their tongues burrowing far enough into their cheeks to leave bruises.

Singer says Warners’ letter was sent

Singer says Warners’ letter was sent as a response to Singer’s own letter he sent the studio last week demanding that Sheen be paid his share of profits from the show’s first seven seasons. In the wake of the dispute, Singer says, Warners has cut off Sheen’s hefty back-end payments from previous seasons of show, currently in its eighth season, refusing to send accounting statements for the most recent payment period Carrera Sunglasses.“What’s going on here is I wrote a demand letter about Charlie not being paid for the first seven seasons,” Singer continues. “This is the response. Those episodes have nothing to do with this dispute and Charlie should be paid accordingly.” Asked for comment on Singer’s claims, a Warners rep says: “Our attorneys’ letter speaks for itself Oakley Sunglasses.” In his recent appreciation of Sidney Lumet, New York Times critic A.O. Scott gently rebuked some of the late, humanist filmmaker’s contemporary detractors. “We are supposed to be too sophisticated to require stories that place their themes in the foreground,” Scott wrote. “And also, perhaps, too jaded to be stirred by a dramatic universe built around increasingly battered beliefs in progress, solidarity and fair play.” The implication is that acceptable movies today must embrace smugness and cynicism in equal measure, lest haters choke on their own humanity Chanel Sunglasses. If Scott is right — and I do think he’s on to something — then modern audiences might find something like Scream 4 to be the most relevant film of the year, maybe even a generation.

Attempting to end on a positive note

Attempting to end on a positive note, Sheen brought a woman onstage whose husband died several years ago. After his death, she says she watched Two and a Half Men to feel better, find comfort in humour, and bring herself back to Earth. Sheen seemed genuinely pleased that his role could affect somebody like that, and so he proposed a toast (with apple cider, of course) cheap designer sunglasses. And with that, Sheen and Peters bid Toronto goodnight and left us with some Snoop Dogg video about winning. Er, #winning.disputing the letter sent this morning by Warner Bros. attorneys claiming that the actor has not been discussing a possible return to Two and a Half Men. “That’s ridiculous,” Sheen attorney Marty Singer tells THR of the claim in the April 14 letter that said “there have been no discussions, there are no discussions Bvlgari Sunglasses, and there will be no discussions, regarding his returning to or having any involvement in the series.” “There absolutely have been discussions,” Singer continues. “As late as this Tuesday there have been discussions about Charlie coming back and everyone was involved.” Singer declines to go into specifics of those talks or which people associated with the show, co-creator Chuck Lorre, WB or CBS have been in contact with Sheen or his representatives. Sheen Police Sunglasses, in media interviews, has said that he has been talking with executives—although he has been vague about who—about returning to his old job as the star of TV’s No. 1 sitcom.

Sheen co-hosted the show with Canadian comedian Peters

Sheen co-hosted the show with Canadian comedian Peters, who said he would donate his fee from the gig to a multiple sclerosis foundation. For the first half of the show, Peters kept things running smoothly, with well-timed jokes that received a fair share of laughs from the packed theatre. The show was structured around a Q&A format, with Peters asking Sheen everything we all want to know but are unable to ask Ray Ban Sunglasses. For instance, “Who was the first celebrity chick you banged?” (Answer: Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing). Things got a bit out of hand when Sheen left the stage to mingle with the audience on the main floor and have Peters field questions for him. From too many middle-aged women asking for hugs to others, like radio DJ Mad Dog, asking just plain idiotic questions, the show quickly began to lose its momentum Burberry Sunglasses. Time for an intermission! Sheen and Peters took a six-and-a-half minute break as the audience was left with a YouTube video that Sheen made to mock his 20/20 interview with Andrea Canning. The show began to further unravel post-intermission as the booze hounds returned to the audience from the lobby bar, with newly boosted alcohol levels resulting in a spike in obnoxious, incomprehensible heckling. Peters and Sheen became visibly annoyed and exasperated Miu Miu Sunglasses, and it seemed clear that they were anxious for the show to come to an end.

By Marti Benjamin, MBA, Professional Certified Coach Business life today is driven by lists—checklists, project lists, to-do lists, priority lists—tools to keep our time and task on track, to produce more, generate more profit and be more focused in what we do. But most of us are overlooking the list that might actually help us be more effective: the Stopping List cheap designer sunglasses. This powerful little list is comprised of the things that no longer add the value for which they were originally designed - those processes, tasks and systems that have outlived their purpose and now only drain time and attention from the true needs of your business. Stopping List Candidates Ineffective systems are not hard to spot. Look for processes that seem to be just cumbersome habits, ones where, when you stop to ask why things are done that way, the answer is, “We’ve always done it that way around here.” When you hear those words, you have identified a strong candidate for your stopping list. Often the stopping list candidate is burrowed deep inside staff habits. Take the experience of a new business owner who discovered that her company was laden with manual systems implemented by the previous owner. One of her first investments in the company was a new software program that captured vital operations and financial data and made it easy to retrieve and report as needed. The technology replaced the old manual process, but employees complained that the software was more work than before. They resisted using it. They continued with their manual system alongside the new software system. The new owner put that manual system on her stopping list. Only after she did that, requiring everyone in the company to use the software to its full capacity, was she able to reduce the workload and gain the benefits of her automated system. Processes that have become habits are often good stopping list candidates. Find Your Candidates If you are not sure where your stopping list candidates are hiding, here are some questions that will help you identify them: 1.??? Ask why, again and again and again. One technique from the field of Quality Management is the Five Why’s. Ask why a process is performed in the way it is. When you have the answer, ask why again, including the answer from the first “Why?” Continue to ask “Why?” until you have asked the question at least five times, digging deeper with each round to see whether the underlying purpose of the process or system continues to have merit in the current environment. 2.??? Do we achieve the same purpose with another process somewhere else in the company? Redundancy reigns in most companies, even in small businesses with just a few employees. You have been a victim of redundancy if you have ever called a customer service line and been asked for your name and account number more than once…and who has not had that experience? Put redundancy on your stopping list and eliminate it to reduce cost. Do a job once, do it right the first time, and stop repeating it unnecessarily. Meanwhile, implement systems that allow for sharing information across the company rather than collecting it repeatedly and storing it in multiple locations. 3.??? If I were designing this system today, based on my current knowledge of the company needs, what would work best? One way to discard the old and align with your company’s new realities is to embrace the perspective that today is your first day of business. Start with a blank canvas and design the system that fits current realities and the predictable future Bvlgari Sunglasses. Re-visit this question often, at least annually, to keep your business systems current and productive. 4.??? Is there a better way to produce the same outcome? Begin with the end in mind—the outcome you want to produce—and work backward to see new possibilities. Every business system exists to achieve an end result, or at least it did at one time. Hold a clear image of the end result and avoid the temptation to get lost in the steps along the way, some of which are clever detours that add little or no value - big stopping list candidates.Use process management tools such as process flow charts to identify redundancy and dead ends and Critical Path Analysis to see how tasks might be combined or sequenced more effectively. ?5. ???What problem did you solve to create the one you have now? Trace your company’s steps back to the original problem. Is there a better way to address that problem? One that has a smaller impact on resources (time, money)? The point of this question is to make sure you are solving the right problem, the one at the core of the situation, not just a symptom. Once you’ve identified candidates for your stopping list, post it prominently in front of you. It is a powerful tool for evaluating and re-designing business processes. It highlights those activities that take resources without returning commensurate value, and when those tasks and processes are stopped or replaced, the result is a greater return on the investment of time, money, creativity and effort Police Sunglasses. The result is success.Article Tags: Stopping List

Where are your non-productive dollars hiding

By Marti Benjamin, MBA, Professional Certified Coach As individual consumers and businesses cut their spending in the tightening U.S. economy, the ripples are seen in an ever-widening circle.? It is always sound business practice to spend wisely, but in times such as this, every dollar spent on your business must be productive—that dollar needs to generate at least $1.00 of value; any that are not Ray Ban Sunglasses, are a drain on your business and costing your profitability.? Here are some suggestions for identifying those non-productive dollars and plugging the drain on your resources. Finding Non-Productive Dollars It is difficult to save your way out of a revenue decline with small cost cutting measures like asking employees to bring their own pens and paper to work or to pay for their own coffee.? That is the ‘nibbling around the edges’ approach and it often takes more effort to identify the small savings than they are worth.? This type of cost-cutting often leaves employees and customers feeling undervalued and ultimately undermines motivation and engagement in the business just when it is most needed. To locate non-productive dollars, begin first with your largest expense category.? ¨?????? Where are there opportunities to reduce that expense category without compromising your business position?? Look at this category with a beginner’s mind:? if you were starting your business today, with all the knowledge you currently have, and a revenue projection equal to your current reality, how would you manage this expense category differently?? What is stopping you from making this change now?? ¨?????? Are there acceptable alternatives to the products/services you have been using that will produce equal outputs?? If you have not evaluated your standard products/services within the past 12 months, it is time to do so.? With new products and services entering the market so rapidly, an annual comparison of what you are using to what is now available may identify opportunities hiding behind old technology or procedures. Take advantage of cost savings available, such as discounts and favorable payment terms. ¨?????? Is your supplier able to find other savings opportunities such as free delivery or shipping from a less costly point of origin?? ¨?????? Have you evaluated the trade-offs between volume purchasing and storage of supplies and components???? ¨?????? Does your trade, professional or business association (e.g., Chamber of Commerce) offer discounts to member businesses?? If the discounts apply to products or services you require, compare the cost of membership to the savings and determine if the membership fee serves you. Consider ways to share costs and leverage customer contacts with non-competing businesses (e.g., office space, shared staff, etc).? ¨?????? If you are calling on the same customers, what is the opportunity for cross-selling? ¨?????? If you belong to a business leads group Burberry Sunglasses, what other members are addressing similar customer needs and how could you collaborate for greater impact with less cost to each of you?? ¨?????? If you do not belong to a business leads group, have you considered the value in joining?? For many businesses, this is a great way to extend your customer contacts as 10-40 other people are looking for customers for you while they are conducting their own business. Products or services with declining demand may also be hiding a drain on dollars.? ¨?????? How can the product be modified, promoted, produced or offered differently to increase demand?? If you do not know, ask your ideal customer what challenges they are facing today.? Resist the temptation to ask them how they like your product or how they would like you to change it.? Learn about their challenges and solve their problems and then you will know the current value of your product in the eyes of the customer and you can modify or eliminate as indicated. ¨?????? At what level of demand will you eliminate the product or service from your offering?? If you establish the threshold before you need to, you will be less emotional in deciding to let go of a product that is no longer valued in the eyes of your customer. Examine the variable expense categories, those that should fluctuate with sales and revenue. This is one of the most difficult areas for small business owners to manage well; it often involves people and relationships that have meaning beyond the profitability of the company.? Regardless, it is important to understand the impact, even if you decide not to reduce expenses in this area at this time.? Often there is a lag between a decline in sales and a corresponding reduction in expense because the expenses are not monitored carefully.? Whether it is office supplies or labor expense, if sales activity and revenue are declining, the variable expenses that support sales must also show a reduction to maintain profitability. If you are not tracking revenue and expense by product or service line, this is a good time to implement such a system and identify which items contribute to profitability and which drain it. Protecting the Productive Dollars The key to understanding the difference between lazy and productive dollars is value; if the value returned in a key function of the business is greater than the money spent, that is productive.? Use data, not just perception to determine whether dollars are lazy or productive.??? Examine both the short-term and strategic value received for the dollar spent.? If the value is returned in the long-term, consider this an investment and calculate the return over the appropriate period.? Be as objective as possible in this assessment Miu Miu Sunglasses; use your business support team—your accountant, business coach, mentor—to make sure you are not seeing an investment where an expense actually exists, or vice versa.? Thinking Profitably This is a time to use the rational side of your brain to identify alternatives and generate greater value.? It is not the time to be driven by either panic or blind optimism.? Thinking profitably means seeing the business as it is, strengths and challenges alike, and deliberately choosing the path to success. Where are your non-productive dollars hiding?
